For Indian students planning to study in Australia, there are several key requirements that a student has to comply with.
- Academic Qualifications:
Student must have the equivalent of an Australian Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (Year 12) & Provide transcripts and certificates from your previous education.
- English Language Proficiency:
Student must demonstrate English language skills, usually through tests like IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE. The required score varies depending on the institution and the level of education you’re applying for.
- Course Enrollment:
Student must be enrolled in a full-time course registered with the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).
- Student Visa (Subclass 500):
– Apply for a Student Visa (Subclass 500), which allows students to stay in Australia for the duration of the course. Visa requirements include proof of enrollment, evidence of financial capacity, health insurance, and a Genuine Student (GS) declaration.
- Funds:
Show evidence of sufficient funds to cover tuition fees, living expenses, and return airfare for yourself and any accompanying family members.
- Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC):
All overseas students must have health insurance that provides coverage for the entire duration of their stay in Australia.
- Genuine Student Requirement:
March 2024 onwards, the Australian Government requires a Genuine Student (GS) declaration, which includes targeted questions about your circumstances and study plans.
